About the ArtistKathy Forste is a singer/songwriter from Lee’s Summit, MO. She has been performing professionally since 1992 playing in various venues from Los Angeles to Nashville from Seattle to Austin and many places in between. She has written, recorded, and produced three solo albums and one album with her band. Many call Kathy songs and style a cross between Mary-Chapin Carpenter and Janis Joplin. Her songs are deeply personal dealing with the struggles of loss, relationships, and an intimate look at some of the people she has encountered in her life. Writing and playing guitar has always been Kathy’s calling in life. She began writing songs at the age of 13. However, she took up and played several instruments over the years. She played trumpet and French Horn in Junior High and High School. She went on to minor in music at Central Missouri State University, playing French Horn and classical guitar. Over the years Kathy has picked up several more instruments. In 2015 she began teaching guitar, ukulele, banjo, and mandolin with a full schedule of students at a music store in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She has recorded 4 albums. Her newest, A Good Chord on a Bad Guitar, is her first album in 15 years. It was well worth the wait because it has been a constant top 5 album in the Roots Music Folk Rock Chart as well as a top 5 album in the Missouri Music Chart and a top 40 album in the Folk Chart. Her singles held the number 1-5 position in the Folk/Rock Chart for several weeks in the Winter/Spring of 2021. A Good Chord on a Bad Guitar is an eclectic mix of Rock, Pop, Blues, Reggae and Americana songs. Kathy wrote all the song and co-produced it with award winning Producer Merel Bregante. She sang and played acoustic guitar on all the tracks backed up by some of the best musicians in Austin, TX and Blue Springs, Mo.
